The first day of snow was Saturday, 1/14, while Black Grammie and Papa were here. It continued to snow. Both boys went off to daycare and Montessori on Tuesday, the day Black Grammie and Papa were leaving. I decided that though my Professional Development Day was cancelled, I’d still go up to Edmonds Elementary school to get some work done. After dropping Elias off at school I headed north. Once I got to the Mountlake Terrace exit, however, I began second guessing my decision. As I drove further west, the road conditions became more dangerous. I called Jay and he told me I should turn around. Since he was in Issaquah, he said that if I got stuck, he wouldn’t be able to go get the boys. That decided it for me, I turned around. By the time I got back into Seattle, it was snowing in our neighborhood. I decided to pick Miles up at Sandie’s. The drive was pretty icy. Mom and Carl at decided not to leave that day due to the snow. We got an email from Elias’ school saying they were going to close at 1pm. I went and got Elias. While gone, Mom and Carl changed their mind (after looking at weather reports) and decided they would leave. The freeways weren’t bad, especially south of us. (And they made the right decision, since it snowed more on Wednesday and Thursday and driving conditions deteriorated!)

This whole week has become a week of Snow Days. Neither boy has gone to school and I have been housebound. On Wednesday, I ended up pulling Elias in the sled to Jane Adams’ playground while I hiked with Miles in the Ergo. It was exhausting. (Elias complained to ME about being tired!) Even Jay’s show, The Odd Couple, that was due to open yesterday in Issaquah had to be cancelled. The Issaquah theater lost power! Jay stayed home with us yesterday. Last night, after sledding in Jane Adams’ field and walking down to Nathan Hale and back, Jay got a call from a spotlight operator for Annie Get Your Gun in Everett. She was stuck in Greenlake on a side street slope. He ended up being a hero and picked her and another production person up and drove them up to Everett for the 8pm show.

The rain is slowly starting, so snow is going to begin to melt. I have sure loved this time home with the boys! Even if we’re feeling a little cabin fever. I feel so lucky that I have been able to witness Miles’ first real walks. He is gaining more and more confidence and going further and further. What an exciting milestone! I will post a video:

Miles Walking

Here are more snow photos. Four at the end are from my phone and were taken during my Wednesday solo walk with the boys, the one of Elias at his school was taken from my phone on Tuesday when I picked him up.
