Having a birthday right after your son’s 1st birthday could prove to be rather challenging and since Aimee’s so chill about her birthday to begin with, we decided to keep the celebrations just that…chill. Since Elias had the fever this week, she spent most of her actual birthday in her classroom preparing for the start of school next week. One would normally not want to spend one’s birthday alone at work but I think she felt better and more relaxed once the chores were done and her classroom was ready to go for the onslaught of first graders next week. Plus, Elias and I came up to help at the end.
Saturday evening, we hooked up with the Grote’s for an impromptu picnic at Matthew’s Beach. Not quite a warm summer evening (says the guy wearing flip flops and freezing his toes off) but it was fun regardless. Elias and FInn got to swing and watch the ducks eat all the dropped baby food.
Sunday, Paul, Sasha and I finally got to take Sasha’s boat out for the first (and hopefully not last) time this summer. The weather started off rainy but cleared up to a nice Seattle afternoon (65 and partly cloudy) and we had a great time once we got the boat started.
We then had the ladies come on down to Magnuson park and had another cook out with cake and presents.
Elias had a great time hanging around a clump of trees or bushes that were just the right height for him. Of course the whole thing turned into a photo shoot with him hamming it up for the camera.
A whole lot of fresh air and activities with friends which is just the way Aimee likes to spend her birthday.
Happy Birthday my sweet love!

What a nice, quiet birthday weekend. I like the booty shot taken with the gorillapod.

Elias, your dad did a terrific job of journaling all about your mom’s birthday
celebration with parents and kids all arouind. We love the pictures of you in the photogenic tree and were so glad your folks sent us some to put in frames on our shelf in the kitchen so we can see you every day we walk in there. Looks like you all had some charcoaled cake—-did they give you some? How lucky you are to have such loving parents—-towards you and each other. The pictures tell the story. love ya, G&G from MO
